Overcoming fear at a time like this is so crucial to our faith. I will admit, there are days when fear creeps in and I feel like I am suffocating. God is so gracious in those moments to show me how my heart is doing and sometimes just a walk in the park - where His creation is so evident - brings me a renewed sense of who I am and what His promises are.
I am sure this is a tough time and you may be dealing with fear...fear of the unknown. My hope is that you will rest assured in the promise of God that says "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8NIV
Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for almost 30 years; yet this man never wavered in spite of all he faced. How courageous. I am sure there were days when he wished his suffering would end. But he endured and came out victorious. Not only was he set free after many years, God promoted him to the highest authority in his country... what an honor for a man who never lost hope. Mr. Mandela used his time during his prison years to do things that set him up for a life of blessings.
What if instead of fear, we focus our hearts and minds on doing things that have eternal value? Think about the change it would bring, and the hope we would give to others. Having courage to walk through difficult times brings out our true character in many ways. Let's allow our hearts to win over fear and push us to be change makers.
May we all find peace in the assurance of God's word and be led to do something great in this season of walking in faith and not fear.
